Everyone loves a cute pet photo! In deciding to work with us to

get professional portraits of your pet done, we want you to love your photos!

Please review this guide to help you get the most out of your investment! 

Items to Bring:

  • Treats! We have American Journey beef training treats for dogs, however; if you have a different type of pet, or a favorite treat for your pup, or your pup has allergies, please make sure to bring some with you!
  • A leash or harness. During outdoor shoots your pet will need to be on a leash unless we are in a fenced in area, this can be photoshopped out. For indoor shoots, your pet will need to be on a leash until secured in the studio! 
  • Toys to keep your pets attention. We have squeakers for this, but pets cannot play with them as it is not safe
  • Water and dish
  • A brush for final touches if your pet has longer fur
  • Poop bags


Food:

If your pet is on a feeding schedule, when booking your shoot, you may want to consider the time! If your pet’s feeding time is 7am and 5pm, consider a shoot around 2pm! When scheduling near a feeding window, a hungry pet may be inattentive and restless, however; a full pet will likely be sleepy and unmotivated by treats! If feeding time is right before or after the shoot, consider giving them a light meal before the ride over. This way they’ll still want treats, but not be too hungry, and can finish their meal when they get home! Remember, exercise before and after eating can upset their stomachs, so you may want to exercise your pet earlier in the day. 

Grooming:

You may want to consider booking a trip to the groomers before your session! Either way, some things to consider are baths, a fur trim if needed, brushing before and taking a look to see if their nails need a trim too!


Exercise:

An energetic pet, especially puppies and kittens, can be hard to cooperate with during shoots. To get the best results, we highly recommend you play with your pet and get some of that energy out before the shoot! Especially if the shoot isn’t near a feeding time for your pet! If your pet is a senior pet, or just sleepier than most, please allow them to get enough rest before the session takes place.  


Props:

For the shoot, you can bring props, like your pet’s favorite toy! A blanket you want seen, bones, tennis balls, bandana changes, and more!
