Can't find the car keys? This dog ate the other shoe??
Don't spend the morning before your shoot running around in pure chaos trying to find everything you needed. Please review this guide to make the most of your mini session with us, in the easiest way possible!
Grooming:
If you want to get pampered, make appointments for hair touch-ups, nails, and eyebrows. You may even want to get professional hairstyling and makeup the day of your photoshoot. If you’re doing it yourself from home, make sure you pay attention to grooming yourself prior, and especially to chipped and clean nails for your and your loved ones that may be joining in the shoot.
Outfits:
The best thing to prepare for your shoot is to know a few days before what outfits everyone is wearing, what hair styles, makeup, shoes, props and more are going to be used so that you have less decisions to make the day of and can relax and not rush when getting ready! While we want you to be comfortable and to dress in your style, we recommend against wearing tennis shoes, tees, and shirts with writing on them! Try to incorporate accessories that fit your outfits, it also helps personalize your photos!
When picking out your family’s clothes, try to avoid “match-matchy” outfits. I suggest not putting more than 2 people in the same color and print. Photos generally look the best when there is a nice blend of 2 or 3 colors among everyone. Remind everyone to take bulky items like phones. wallets, and car keys out of their pockets before we start the session.
Props:
When planning the shoot out, if you wanted to incorporate specific props, mementos, or outfit changes, pack them ahead of time! Making a list of any specific photos you wanted taken, but forgot to mention, is also going to be helpful for the shoot. Put everything you need for the shoot in a bag near your outfits for the shoot so that you don’t forget them!
Sleep and Food:
Please make sure you get a well rested night’s sleep the night before, eat food that’s going to make you feel good and not weigh you down, and make sure to brush your teeth before the photos after you eat!
Make sure the kiddos are well rested, but don’t let them sleep on the way to the shoot so that they are not cranky from being woken up! Bring bribe food/candy just in case I’m not enough to hold the kids’ attention. (Trust me, this may really come in handy with the younger ones!) Gummies usually work great!
Preppin the Kiddos:
In addition to everything above, make sure your kids know what’s going on and what to expect! Let them know it will be fun for them, like playtime. Try to plan something for after the photoshoot to keep them excited. You don’t have to worry about posing or getting your family all in order - I’ll take care of that. So practicing smiling or posing with a child who may be shy already, could add stress or anxiety on them in the days leading up to the shoot.
